Watashi (私)‘ is placed sixth in album ‘TWELVE’ and also composed by Oomori Motoki, the vocalist of this band. I think this song is about a fail love. About how this person love someone in the past but cannot get together somehow and they cannot forget it. They keep reminiscing it. But the past is in the past. You cannot go back even though you want to. And that’s why this person who still alive, will keep lives on without their loved ones; because after all, people will fall in love once again. And it is implied that hopefully they can get over it and find a new love soon. For now, ‘I live’.

This is also considered one song of theirs that gives off different feelings than what they used to offer in my opinion (When I think about it, all songs in album ‘TWELVE’ gives off different feelings). This one is a sad melancholic melody. The intro really caught me off guard the first time. It’s beautiful. And… somehow the intro is similar with some Japanese old song that I know, but at the same time, I don’t remember, haha! *shot

Please don’t mind me and proceed to the lyric immediately.

Disclaimer: I do not own this song.

Japanese lyric

Romaji

Futari dake no kaeri michi
Yowasa wo shireta yoru
Koware kake no jitensha to
Tsuka nda sono te mo
Mou todokanai, modorenai
Itsu made mo…
Imasara dakedo.
Ano toki, watashi wa anata no koto ga suki deshita
Kogoeru fuyu ni wa atatakai sono me ga sukui deshita
Anata ga suki deshita.
Mukashi miteta keshiki wa doko made mo hirokute
Soko made no iki kata nado shiritaku wa nakatta
Doko ka de anata ga narasu
Sono ashioto* wa hayakatta
Koware kake no jitensha no
Sute kata mo wakatta
Demo wasurezu ni todometeokou
Itsu no hi mo
“Kawarazu ni iyou”
Kore kara mo zutto
Koko kara no yuuhi ga kirei de areba
Kore kara mo zutto
Watashi wa “watashi” wo ikiteyukeru
Hana wa mada sakezu ni
Watashi mo mada nakezu ni
Anata e wa todokazu tomo
Hito wa mata koi wo suru
Ano toki, watashi wa anata no koto ga suki deshita
Kogoeru fuyu ni wa atatakai sono me ga sukui deshita
Kore kara watashi wa,
Ashita mo watashi wa,
Tashika ni koko de iki wo shiteru
Watashi wa watashi wo ikite yuku

(*) ‘Ashioto’ means ‘sound of footsteps’. But he sings it as if it is ‘ashiato’ which means ‘the footprints’. But it is indeed ‘ashioto’ hehe. Just want to tell you that (though you probably know it already.)

Notes: This is a list of mistakes in my attempt of romanising it. […] kanji ~ [–>] my attempt ~ [=] the correct romanization ~ (…) my own comment

  1. [白くて] -> shoukute = shirokute (Even though I often met this kanji, I couldn’t put my finger on it. Okay, I’ll register it into my mind now… [白] = ‘shiro’, which means ‘white’)
  2. [脆くて] -> modokute = morokute
1. Koboeru, 2. Kokoeru = kogoeru (HA! Now that I listened to it again… my ears sure are dumb!)
